some newbie questions - Guild Wars Forums

hi- i want to buy the whole trilogy of games- i saw it in steam for 25 bucks but it doesnt say that it incluedes the eye of the north like in the ncsoft store which here it costs 49.99 with free eye of the north -so what should i choose?

another question -in the game is it easy to find groups for a new character? if not can u solo the quests or u must have groups?

another question-i saw that people say that the game starts after level 20 for real -what do u mean exactly ?

i saw that there is no auction house-is it hard to sell stuff to people because of that??

Yes, $25 for the trilogy is really cheap and worth it. You can always get the extension EOTN later. However, it's a good price to get the entire set for $50 too. Eye of the North is one of the best parts of the game (IMHO), so if you really get into GW EOTN is a must.

There are a lot of new people in GW, so yes you can find groups at any level. The best thing to do is find a guild where the players will help you learn the game.

Level 20 is the cap. There are a lot of areas where you won't live unless you are lvl 20, and the more fun parts of the game are the more difficult parts.

There isn't a auction house but it's fairly easy to sell things.

If you're not too worried about getting the best deal possible, I'd go with the ncsoft store. But you can probably shop around and find EotN for less than $25 somewhere.

It can be hard to find people to group up with, but many times there are people hanging around, especially in beginner areas, willing to help newbies out. If you can't find players to party up with, you can always use Henchmen - and/or any Heroes you unlock in Nightfall or EotN.

All the stuff you come across in the early stages of GW is considered by most as training - picking up skills, gaining XP, learning game mechanics, etc. After you reach level 20, and have progressed through the game, is where the more challenging parts of the game are found. You'll have to adjust your skill bar for different foes, use different team compositions, different tactics, etc.

Yeah, it can be a pain to buy/sell things, (anything that's not max is merchant fodder). But players have established Kamadan in Nightfall and Lion's Arch in Prophecies as the main trading towns where everyone goes to do business. It's all done through the trade chat & the Party Search window. Just a friendly warning - Do not use local chat to buy/sell, your account can be suspended if you do.

The areas you play until you are level 20 can be considered the tutorial and learning areas. You learn how to play your charakter, you learn how to equip yourself. In Prophecies, you get to level 20 quite late, but if you start in Factions or Nightfall, you are still at the very beginning of the story line when you reach 20.
The challenging part of the game starts after that.

There is not only a level cap, there is also a cap for equipment. The maximum damage weapons, the maximum armor class - all these are freely available around the time you reach level 20. No level grind, no item grind. After you got the best equipment, the only thing to improve yourself is to fine-tune your build and your tactical play. You fail the later missions, if you don't do that.

This concept may sound scary at first, but you get used to it. It makes all players equal. Skill counts, not equipment.

i think i will get all the expansions plus the eye of the north

well its one payment only after all hehe

just one last question-what order should i play them for best effect?

The order they came out is: Prophecies; Factions; Nightfall; Eye of the North.

So, you might want to follow the rule and start with prophecies.
Counter-back: Tyria [the Prophecies mainland] is the most difficult to start with, because leveling up there is a pain, and you can choose either Elona or Cantha, which are more friendly, so you can level up faster. Up to you, of course. Enjoy the game.

LOL, don't get your hopes up. There are some nice and helpfull people who play GW. There are also those who will force you to redefine poor manners and rudeness.

-quicker install
-books
-poster (depends on version)
-harder to loose stuff

ofc the offer is only for the ncsoft store, so you'd have to buy it there.
(who wouldn't want free eotn with the trilogy)
